expecting

Now that I am currently #expecting, I am doing everything that I can to try to prepare for baby. As a #babyplanner, #doula and educator, I'm pretty well prepared, but I know that I can always do more. Something that I want to make sure that I do more research on is taking care of me after I have this sweet baby. It's very common for new mothers to completely focus on baby and forget their own needs. And focusing on your child is not a bad thing. (I'm pretty sure I will be in the same boat.) However, we also need to remember to take the time to focus on a care plan for ourselves. I recently came across Jill Simonian's new book, The FAB Mom's Guide (@jillsimonian) and am so glad that I did! The word 'FAB' in her book is actually an acronym meaning Focused After Baby. That's definitely something I will need after having this little one. Jill shares tips and encouragement on how to bounce back to feeling like yourself as well as discovering the NEW you during your journey through motherhood. I agree with Jill that these topics are under discussed and often regarded as undoable in today's parenting community bouncing back after baby. But I'm grateful to be surrounded by incredible women and resources like Jill and her book to remind me that we've got this and we're all in this thing called motherhood together. This book has been a great resource for me to make sure that I also take care of myself (and of course baby) after giving birth. I highly recommend it!
